Johnny Depp in Black Mass

When they began filming the film Black Mass, there were reports of Johnny Depp undergoing a massive on-screen metamorphosis. And now, with the trailer of the film out, it is indeed difficult to recognise the actor in the film.

For the uninitiated, Black Mass is a film which had been running pretty high on the anticipation meters all over the world till now. And the trailer has now provided a fillip to that. Black Mass is based on the 2001 book by Dick Lehr and Gerard O'Neill, Black Mass: The True Story of an Unholy Alliance Between the FBI and the Irish Mob. The Scott Cooper directorial tells the true tale of Whitey Bulger, who is among the US' most notorious gangsters, once preceded by only Osama Bin Laden on the country's most-wanted list.

In Black Mass, Depp essays the character of Bulger. And going by the trailer, he's killing it. With his hairline pushed back and several other facial changes, Depp's spine-chilling Bulger is a treat to watch
